Indian Meteorological Department updated that a Catastrophic Cyclone named Ramal is developing near Bay of Bengal which is near the cost of West Bangaland adjoining Bangladesh. IMD predicted that Cyclone Remal will hit in May 26 which will be a catastrophic storm
On May 23 IMD took to x and wrote, A low pressure .Area over West Central & adjoining South bay of Bengal moved northwards during last 1w hours and lay over the same area at 1730 IST of 23 may.its very likely to concentrate into a Depr8over central part of Bay of Bengal by morning of 2rth may.
After that it will continue to moving northwards,and it will more intense further as cyclonic storm over East Central BOB by 25th May morning. Then the cyclone will move nearly northwards and reach near Bangladesh and adjoining west Bengal cost by 26rh may evening as a catastrophic storm
# Meaning of ‘Remal’ name mean?.
It's mean ‘ Sand ’ in Arabic..if the cyclone will moved and make catastrophic situation then it will be name Cyclone Remal.
# Key Area name that will be affected in this storm:
As IMD report this Cyclone will lies over Central Bay of Bengal. Then it will cross West Bengal and Bangladesh cost between Sagar Island and Khepupara. Costel district of West Bengal will face very heavy rain on May 26 & 27
Kolkata, South and North 24 , Purba Medinipur and Howrah districts in Bengal will also see heavy to very heavy rain on May 26 and 27,
Moreover, South 24 Parganas area has been warned of experiencing gusty wind reaching 90 to 100 kmph in, 80 to 90 kmph in Purba Medinipur, while in Kolkata, North 24 Parganas and Howrah it will reach 60 to 70 kmph.
# Damage prediction for the Storm :
As IMD reports said that major damage may be expected damaging houses, huts. Breaking of tree branches, uprooting of trees. Major damage to crop field like banana and papaya trees, damage to power and communication lines.
Additionally, damage to paddy crops, horticultural crops and orchards is expected along with disruption of traffic due to water logging
